Each year at 6.00am on 25 April, Lions members attend the Goolwa RSL – The Cuttings Dawn Service to remember and honour those who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations. They stand silently with the community, acknowledging the sacrifices made and the suffering endured—by those in uniform and by the loved ones who waited and grieved. As dawn breaks, a wreath is laid by the Lions Club of Goolwa in solemn remembrance.
This act is not ceremonial alone—it is personal. The Lions Club of Goolwa extends its heartfelt thanks to all who have served. Members are proud to uphold the ANZAC spirit, which lives on not just in history books or memorials, but in moments like these: shared reflection, community solidarity, and unwavering respect.
Whether rain or shine, Lions turn out. It is tradition, yes—but more than that, it is a pledge. A pledge to remember. A pledge to honour. And a pledge to ensure that future generations understand the cost of peace, and the strength found in courage and compassion.
Lest we forget.
