Community raffle

Raffles

Be it Christmas, Easter, Mother’s Day, or Father’s Day you are likely to see our members sitting at a table in the Goolwa Village Shopping Centre or some other prominent place around the town selling raffle tickets. In fact, it need not be an occasion, it could just be time for a community raffle. All the proceeds of our raffles go to Lions community projects. Spending a few dollars on raffle tickets might win you a nice prize but the bigger picture is it delivers benefits to many others.

Lions mints

Lions Mints

Lions Clubs are well known for their mints. They are sold throughout the world, everyone has a favourite, be it peppermint, spearmint, musk, or fizzers. In Goolwa, we have around thirty outlets, including Middleton, with the most popular presently being fizzers. Our steadfast members monitor and regularly visit the outlets, maintaining the display equipment and restocking mints. The outlets include cafes, hotels, banks, retail outlets and a paving supplier, plus others. All profits raised are used to support community projects and donations to charities.

Lions Cakes

The Lions Christmas Cake and Pudding program has been a major fund-raising project of Lions Australia since 1965 and raised more than $70mill. In Goolwa we normally sell out of our extremely popular cakes, everyone knows and loves a Lions cake or pudding. In fact, they are so popular now we are having them available all year round at our book market. Leading up to Christmas they will be available for purchase at the Goolwa Village Shopping centre and various other local shops or businesses.

Selling baked goods

Catering and Events

In addition to Bunnings, we are regularly requested to provide a BBQ or catering for private events, parties, or gatherings. For example, we catered for the Jayco Caravan Club gathering at Clayton Bay for 100 people, cooked a BBQ at a wedding in Port Elliot, provided morning tea, lunch and afternoon platters for the bowling club centenary, run a BBQ at a farm clearance sale, and have catered several morning teas. All proceeds from catering go towards our Club projects, community activities, charities, and organisations. Please support us by stopping and buying our goods and in turn you will be supporting the local community. If you would like the Lions Club of Goolwa to cater for a fundraising or community event, corporate event or even a private party, please Contact Us and we will supply an Event Request Form for you to complete and return.

Bunnings BBQ

Bunnings BBQs

We are a regular sight for the customers at Bunnings Victor Harbor being on site every six to eight weeks. Although technically just outside of our area it is visited by most Goolwa residents on a weekly, or more basis. Not only is the BBQ a solid regular source of fundraising for our club but it is an opportunity for our members to mingle with friends and family who live between Goolwa to Victor. The Bunnings BBQ will continue to be on our fundraising calendar. We are extending our service to not only providing a sausage in bread and a drink but introducing the opportunity to buy a Lions cake or mints.
